Project Overview
On 12th August 2025, 2 Brothers Concrete & Pumping was subcontracted to carry out a concrete pumping job for South Western Rail at a site in Winchester, Hampshire.
The project required precision planning and specialist equipment due to the restricted site access and tight working conditions surrounding the rail infrastructure.
To overcome these challenges, our team deployed a long line pump setup, using 180 metres of pipeline to deliver 9m³ of concrete efficiently and safely. Despite the demanding layout, the pour was completed in under 3.5 hours, ensuring the schedule remained on track and disruption to surrounding works was minimal.

Challenges
Railway sites often present limited access and strict safety protocols, so careful preparation and communication with the main contractor were essential.
The concrete had to be pumped over a long distance through narrow access routes, requiring precise coordination between the pump operator, ground crew, and site manager.
Our experienced team assessed the setup in advance, ensuring the correct line pump configuration was in place and the mix design was suitable for the distance and pressure required.
Our Solution
We utilised our specialist concrete line pump – ideal for tight sites, urban projects, and restricted access jobs. The 180m pipeline was laid and tested before the pour to guarantee smooth flow and consistent delivery.
Communication was key: our operators maintained radio contact throughout the job, ensuring a steady and controlled pour rate, achieving the required finish without any downtime or blockages.
The end result was a clean, precise concrete pour delivered safely, on time, and within budget – a testament to the professionalism and reliability that 2 Brothers are known for across the South of England.
